ISO 9001:2000  One Day Awareness Workshop

Almost everyone is affected by the ISO 9001:2000 changes.

Regardless of whether you are just starting your ISO 9000 implementation or are a former registered company there will be an effect on your quality management system. Whether that change will prove to be valid for a particular company will usually depend upon how that Company and its partners, consultant, trainer, registrar, etc. prepare for the change.

Be proactive -- take our orientation workshop and start an action plan. The new revision may prove to be the perfect opportunity to take a firm’s quality system up a notch.

Instead of the current 20 elements there are now four processes. The four sections include management responsibility, resource management, process management, measurements analysis and improvement. One quality management system conformance standard will apply to all organizations. ISO 9002 and ISO 9003 have been eliminated.ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76ISO 14000,Environmental Management Services,ISO 9000,ISO 9001,ISO 9001:2000,ISO 9001-2000,ISO 14000,MBNQA,baldrige assessment,MOBIS,A-76

There is considerably more emphasis on customer interaction, satisfaction and continuous improvement.

Several new requirements will be included with this revision. The key additions will cover information availability, work environment, the measurement of customer satisfaction, analysis of data and the requirements that processes operate as a loop.

The new standard is in effect. It is important to formulate a plan of action.

We recommend establishing a working committee, educating the committee relative to the new requirements, developing a project plan, and being ready for significant change. Consider incorporating the changes into your current documentation structure. View these changes as an opportunity to improve your quality management system or to fix it if it is broken. If the documentation seems to be too complex here is an opportunity to reduce and streamline the quality manual and operating procedures. Be sure to include management into all phases of the implementation planning and action items. Be sure they are adequately educated and aware of their new roles and responsibilities.

One of the most significant changes is the creation of the new vocabulary.  ISO standard 8402 vocabulary has been eliminated and replaced with this new vocabulary list.

There are significant changes to the format of ISO 9001 – 2000. These changes include format, direction and content. Quality system requirements are now included in four processes. The numbering sequence changes from the number four series of paragraphs to numbers 5, 6,7, and 8. The four sections are, management responsibility, resource management, process management, measurements analysis and improvement. The standard now shares common management system principles with the ISO 14000 standard. One quality system model applies to all organizations. The standard now uses the term organization instead of supplier and supplier is used in the place of contractor. The supply chain appears as supplier – organization – customer. There is considerably more emphasis on customer interface and interaction. Customer satisfaction and continuous improvement are stretched significantly. The key additional elements are: information availability, work environment, processes are required to operate as a loop, measurement of customer satisfaction is now required, analysis of data, improvement processes.

As the implementation time draws near it is critical that organizations develop a plan for implementation. The steering committee should receive orientation training.

The impact of the ISO 9000 series on business processes and world trade has been considerable. The most recent ISO survey showed that 226,349  quality systems in 129 countries have been certified to ISO 9000.
